Air-Conditioning Equipment
With the summer heat and humidity in the Greater Cincinnati area, we all know how important it is to have an air-conditioning system that provides dry, cool comfort for our homes and businesses. Air-conditioning is changing as we know it. The U.S. Government placed a production cap on R-22 (Freon) and other HCFCs  (hydrochloroflourocarbons) in January 1996 and instituted a phase-out schedule to gradually eliminate R-22 use. After January 1, 2010, products using R-22 will no longer be manufactured. Howard Adams Heating has been offering the worry-free alternative to R-22, Puron, since 1997. Also, on January 23, 2006, the minimum efficiency ratings of all newly manufactured air-conditioning increased from 10 S.E.E.R. (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) to 13 S.E.E.R. That meant a noticeable increase in air-conditioning equipment size and expense.

Humidifiers
Do you suffer from static electricity, a dry, stuffy nose, and itchy, flaky skin? Do you have valuable wood trim and furniture that is being damaged due to joint separation and dryness? Is your thermostat set 1 to 2 degrees higher than it needs to be? We can install a dependable whole-house humidifier that will put moisture back into your home, thus eliminating most of the problems listed above.

Air Cleaners, Filters, & Ultraviolet Air Purifiers
Cleaning the air inside of your home or office is more important than it has ever been. Since the energy crisis of the 1970s, homes are more airtight and energy efficient. This prohibits fresh air from entering the home, sealing in dust, dirt, pollens, and indoor chemicals. The tightness of the home also promotes the growth of mold, bacteria, and dust mites. Some products filter the air, while others clean and filter it. Both give you comfort and boost the efficiency of your heating and air-conditioning equipment, as well as achieve some additional benefits. Filters come in an array of offerings and range in efficiency. These filters collect and hold particulate until the filter is replaced or cleaned. Electronic air cleaners are units that clean and filter the air. Larger particles are removed by aluminum pre-filter. The smaller particles pass through the pre-filter to the ionizing section, where they are electrically charged. The "charged" particles are then collected to a grounded plate and remain there until washed away during cleaning.

Thermostats
Many things have changed in the last few years when it comes to controlling your comfort. With the thermostats available today, you can do everything from changing your space temperature to having the thermostat notify you by phone or e-mail if there are system service or maintenance needs. Since many older thermostats used mercury or bi-metal plates to adjust temperature, they were very inaccurate. Today's air-conditioning equipment use electronic digital operation and are very accurate in both heating and cooling. Available in both programmable and non-programmable styles, a dual setback programmable thermostat can reduce energy consumption by 16 to 25%. That kind of energy savings will significantly lower your monthly heating bills.

Ductless Mini Split Systems
There are occasions when it is physically impractical or impossible to install a ducted central air-conditioning or heat pump system. Ductless Mini Split Systems offer higher efficiency and reduced noise compared to other options like package terminal air conditioners or window units. Most mini splits have remote control thermostat capabilities, and many have built-in timers for turning the equipment on and off.
